HISTORY

Picture
In an isolated settlement north of Ghana's capital of Accra, there is a community of artisans with a collective dream – to provide their kids with the schooling they need to succeed in an increasingly globalized world. Nearly 300 kids count on the education they receive at North Star School to change their futures. We need your help to unlock their potential. Families in New Ashongman can’t afford much in the way of tuition, but collectively, we can help deliver a bright future for this promising community.

North Star School is a Pre-Kindergarten to Junior Secondary School (9th Grade) founded in September 2004 to give the kids in the community basic reading and writing skills. North Star has since expanded into giving students a strong foundation in core subjects to prepare them for Ghana's competitive Senior Secondary School system.

In December 2014, a group of committed friends and family members around the world came together to raise $15,143 towards a bus and writing scholarship for North Star School. And  in the following year, The Taiwo Fund was formed to support the school's growth. The Taiwo Fund aims to create a fun learning environment for the students and help them cultivate skills in Information Technology and the Arts.

The Taiwo Fund is a non-profit corporation exclusively for educational and charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, or the corresponding section of any future Federal tax code.
